Pain in the Ass: Mads Pedersen on Losing Jasper Stuyven for Tour of Flanders
Mads Pedersen was one of a number of riders to go down hard in a dramatic mass crash at Dwars Door Vlaanderen on Wednesday.
The Dane was allowed to continue after the check but admitted that he was still feeling the effects of the crash on Thursday.
"It was a pain in the ass," Pedersen said. "I'm still a bit sore, but I'm hoping to be ok for Sunday."
Pedersen is one of the favorites for the Tour of Flanders, and he will be hoping to challenge for the victory on Sunday. However, he admitted that the loss of his teammate Jasper Stuyven is a big blow.
"It's a shame to lose Jasper," Pedersen said. "He's a key rider for us, and he would have been a big help on Sunday."
Despite the loss of Stuyven, Pedersen is still confident that he can challenge for the victory. He said: "I'm feeling good, and I'm confident that I can win."
