Phishing and Impersonation Attempts Targeting Individuals

Be Aware of Scams Using Embassy Name, Phone Number, and Social Media Accounts

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Berlin has issued an urgent warning to the public regarding fraudulent activities using its name and contact information. The Embassy has detected phishing and impersonation attempts targeting individuals through various channels, including phone calls, emails, and social media platforms.

The scammers are posing as Embassy officials and contacting individuals, claiming to offer visas, passport renewals, or other services. They may use the Embassy's official name, phone number (30 39 89 75 0), or email address to gain credibility. The Embassy emphasizes that it does not make unsolicited phone calls or emails to individuals regarding visa or passport matters.

The Embassy has also identified fake social media accounts and websites using the Embassy's name and logo. These accounts may ask for personal information, such as passport details or bank account numbers, for fraudulent purposes. The Embassy has no official Facebook page or YouTube channel.

The Embassy urges individuals to remain vigilant and take the following precautions:

  • Do not respond to unsolicited phone calls, emails, or social media messages claiming to be from the Embassy.
  • Never share personal or financial information over the phone or email.
  • Verify the authenticity of social media accounts by checking the Embassy's official website for legitimate contact information.
  • Report any suspicious activity or fraudulent attempts to the Embassy.

The Embassy of Bangladesh is committed to protecting the public from fraud and advises individuals to exercise caution when dealing with unsolicited requests for personal information.
