Tragedy Strikes on the Jersey Shore
A boating accident off the coast of Point Pleasant Beach has claimed the lives of three people and left several others hospitalized.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, when a 24-foot boat capsized in rough seas.
The victims have been identified as 45-year-old John Smith of Brick Township, 32-year-old Mary Johnson of Toms River, and 28-year-old Robert Brown of Point Pleasant Beach.
$1 Million Casino Winnings Hit Atlantic City
A lucky gambler at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City has won a $1 million jackpot on a slot machine.
The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, hit the jackpot on a Wheel of Fortune slot machine on Friday, August 25.
This is the second major casino win in Atlantic City in recent months. In June, a man won a $1.5 million jackpot at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
Shark Bite at Seaside Heights Beach
A 12-year-old boy was bitten by a shark at Seaside Heights Beach on Sunday, August 27.
The boy, who was swimming in the ocean, suffered a minor laceration to his leg.
This is the first reported shark bite at a New Jersey beach this summer.
